The views were amazing and we were lucky the weather was absolutely beautiful. I didn’t know that they also perform weddings at The Hill of The O’Neill.- there was one on when we were there. The guide had an encyclopaedic knowledge of Irish history and was fascinating to listen to. It was a really worthwhile experience learning about the Ancient Capital of Ulster- Dungannon. The exhibition was interactive and interesting too. We liked that the building was really clean including the ladies toilets.. and a little basket of complimentary sanitary products which I felt was very thoughtful.

In the grand scheme of things, this is a very small museum--really only two rooms. What makes it special is the tour guide Peter. He gave us a fantastic private tour both inside and outside of the museum and ruins that lasted about 90 minutes. You can see him on You Tube also. The outside portion is fascinating to see and understand what transpired on this hill over the centuries. He does duplicated some of the information you'll find inside. Parking is not well-signed but we found out by checking with reception that you can drive up to the end of Castlehill Road then turn right into the museum's driveway. There is a gate there and when you pull up to it, they will raise it to let you in. Follow the drive around the top then slightly downhill and you'll get to the free parking area. Walk back to the museum--we walked all the way around to the front entrance due to construction but do check to see if you can get in via the upper rear part of the building.

An excellent day out. We had a guide who brought the whole thing to life; very educational but entertaining. The museum is laid out very well as is the actual hill of the O'Neill. There are also sections that children can enjoy.If you want to understand Iriah histroy this is a very good place to go.

Our tour guide Peter was excellent and very knowledgeable. So much history and a gem in the center of Dungannon!
